Watch a stuntman backflip over a moving formula E car
Red Bull – Pro stuntman Damien Walters dices with a Formula E car in this amazing new 360° video. Stuntman and free runner Damien Walters has doubled for Daniel Craig in Skyfall and done the stunts for Michael Fassbender in Assassin’s Creed. But now he’s taken on one of the most extreme stunts of his career: backflipping over a moving racing car without being able to see it approaching.
Walters and stunt driver Alistair Whitton pulled off the feat at Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez using an all-electric – and, crucially, stealthily quiet – Formula E racer.
To make the stunt work, the Formula E car had to be moving at a constant 97kph (60.63mph) down the pit straight, with Walters executing the backflip exactly 6.6 seconds after the car had broken a timing beam. Any earlier and Walters would hit the back of the car before it had passed under him. Any later and… well, no need to think about that.
Check out the amazing feat in the video below – and then check out the 360° video of the stunt below that.
