Gorillaz tease long-awaited new album with studio footage

By Dancing Astronaut – Ever since the announcement last July that legendary virtual band The Gorillaz would be recording a new album, fans of the group have been anxiously awaiting any details of the record’s progress.

One such update, the first of its kind since recording began in September, was provided this morning by artist, designer, and one half of the Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett, who posted two short clips of studio footage on his Instagram. The videos show Damon Albarn, the Gorillaz’ musical mastermind, working in the studio, surrounded by hardware synths and outboard gear, and having fun with some of his collaborators. While the clips offer little insight into what the upcoming album, the Gorillaz’ first since 2010′s Plastic Beach, will sound like, or when it will come out, they do serve as a reminder that one of the most anticipated releases of 2016 is well under way.
